WELCOME!

Welcome to my blog! I'm Lane Shields, M.Ed (he/him), a neurodivergent Transition Specialist & Special Educator from the Boston, MA area. However, I recently moved to the West Coast!

I enjoy helping my neurodivergent community learn the life & vocational skills vital for success to transition into adulthood. I am also personally passionate about disability advocacy, and enjoy teaching the general public about neurodiversity, ableism, and other disability topics.

I have 15 years of experience doing direct services in the Special Education field, and a lifetime of experience navigating the world with multiple disabilities myself.

Outside of teaching, I love spending time in the woods, mountains or water, and creating both music & art!

Unusual facts about me:

--> My favorite time of year to hike is THE WINTER
--> I went to college to be a violinist, but switched to Psychology my Sophomore year
--> I now play improv violin in a band
--> I had brain surgery when I was 17
--> I used to have 5 pet chinchillas
